RUIDOSO SALES GRADUATE, Streak of Sixes WINS $283,555 New Mexican Spring Futurity

Sunland Park, NM - April 11, 2010 - Ruidoso Sales graduate, Streak of Sixes closed fast to remain unbeaten and win the $283,555 New Mexico Spring Futurity on Sunday at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. The talented Quarter Horse closed stoutly from sixth place to win the restricted Grade 1 event for New Mexico-bred two-year-olds.

Under jockey Cody Jensen, the 6-5 favorite made up for a slow start with a stirring finish in the 300 yard dash. The sorrel daughter of Sixes Royal found her best strides in the final 150 yards and swept on past the long shot Miss Chicks Vision to win by a head. The top qualifier finished with a flurry and sped through the feature in a fast 14.994 seconds, good for a 97 speed index.

Streak of Sixes won her third straight career out and picked up a $133,271 payday for owners Peter and Marjorie Gallegos of Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. The impressive filly was purchased for a bargain price of $9,500 last summer at the Ruidoso Quarter Horse Yearling Sale. She is paid up for major stakes races at Ruidoso Downs, Albuquerque and Zia Park this year.

Former All American Futurity winning trainer Juan M. Gonzalez trains the speedy freshman.

Let go at 26-1 odds, Miss Chicks Version outran her odds and nearly broke her maiden in the New Mexican Spring Futurity. Under jockey Alonso Rivera, the daughter of Chicks A Blazin dug in gamely and took the lead mid-way through the stretch. The grey filly just missed at the wire for trainer Roberto Sanchez. The runner-up earned $51,040 for the SM Cattle Export Company and Jaime Dominguez.

Merryvale closed nicely on the outside to finish third, beaten less than a length. The Furyofthewind filly hesitated slightly at the start but gained ground in deep stretch. The third place finisher earned over $31,000 for owner Sue May of Ft. Stockton, Texas.

Dun Avatar, Cozby, Mitzi Lee Fame, Running Miracle and W R Dash rounded out the order of finish.
