Ruidoso New Mexico Bred QH Yearling Sale Results see increase from 2008

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 22,2009— Ruidoso Horse Sale Company saw a 9% increase in average and a 15% increase in their median for the two-day New Mexico Bred Quarter Horse Yearling Sale completed Saturday evening.

The sales final results included a gross of $1,640,200 for the 164 horses that sold. The average price was $10,001 and the median price was $6,700.

Compared to a year ago, when 166 yearlings sold the gross was up 8% from $1,525,400. The average was up 9% from the last year's average of $9,189 and median was up 15% from 2008's $5,850.

The buy-bay rate also declined from 22% in 2008 to 18% this year.

David E. Barrett purchased the high seller, Wilmon, a Dash Ta Fame colt from MJ Farms for $62,000. The chestnut is a full brother to grade 1 winner and former world record holder Kendall Jackson ($408,749) and half-brother to 2009 grade 2 stakes winner Alice K White ($143,162 to 3, 2009).

The second high-seller, Blazin Famous Nights, was also sired by Dash Ta Fame. Johnny Trotter paid $57,000 for the first foal out of restricted grade 2 winner Blazin Nights ($241,021). Tommy Bouldin consigned the sorrel filly.

First crop-sire Furyofthewind was the sales leading sire with more than two-head passing through the ring. The grade 3 son of Corona Cartel had six head bring $25,333. Dash Ta Fame sold 22 head for $21,182 and Deferred Sentence saw four head average $13,250.

Victory Farms led all buyers with seven head totaling $105,500, followed by David Barrett who bought two head for $77,500.

MJ Farms was the sales leading consignor/agent with 23 head selling for $497,500 followed by Double LL Farms who had 47 head bring a total $428,100.
