RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM – September 3, 2012 – The Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale gained momentum throughout the three-night offering and concluded with the average sale price up 6.2 percent over 2011 figures and up 33.3 percent over 2010 figures.
The total sale average was $46,735.
The final session on Sunday night concluded with a $46,502 average on 110 head sold, up two percent over 2011 and an incredible 62.1 percent over 2010 figures.
The high-selling yearling went through the ring on Sunday night when Carol On My Mind brought $520,000. She was consigned by 6666 Ranch, agent and purchased by William Smith. Her dam First Carolina won the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity and earned $415,047. The Corona Cartel filly is a sister All American Futurity finalist Denver Pass.
The second high-seller on Sunday night, Jasmine Beauty, brought $350,000 on a bid from Abigail Kawananakoa. She was consigned by Lazy E Ranch, LLC, agent for Bollenbach Farm. The Valiant Hero daughter is out of a stakes-producing daughter of champion Speedy Empress, the dam of three stakes winners.
The second-high seller for the entire sale was Wide Open Heart at $500,000. The first foal of All American Futurity winner Heartswideopen sold on Saturday night. The First Down Dash son was purchased by Bobby Cox from the Julianna Hawn Holt consignment.
There were those two yearlings who hit the $500,000 level, three sold for more than $400,000, eight for more than $300,000, 12 for more than $200,000 and 31 yearlings sold for more than $100,000.
